What this tool does
We remove file-level metadata โ EXIF, XMP (including DigitalSourceType / trainedAlgorithmicMedia), C2PA / JUMBF content credentials, IPTC and PNG text chunks โ from image files you provide. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to, stored on, or transmitted through our servers.
Removal is deletion only. We never add or invent metadata: no fake camera details, no forged content credentials. A file cleaned by this tool simply has no provenance record.
What we cannot do
- We do not alter pixels. Any watermark or signal embedded in the image itself remains.
- We are not a pixel-level AI detector and cannot identify provenance that is not recorded in metadata.
- We do not bypass visual classifiers that a platform may run on uploaded files.
- We do not guarantee that a platform will remove an existing label, or refrain from applying one.
No guarantee of effectiveness
Platforms change their detection methods without notice. Metadata removal is effective against metadata-based detection only. It is not a technical or legal guarantee of any outcome.
Legitimate uses
- Removing metadata from files you created or own
- Fixing false-positive "Made with AI" or "AI info" labels on your own photographs
- Removing location and personal data before sharing
Your legal responsibility
You may not use this tool to remove copyright management information from works you do not own or license, to misrepresent the origin of content, to avoid a legally required transparency disclosure, or to infringe any third party's rights. You are solely responsible for how you use the output.
In the United States, 17 U.S.C. ยง 1202 prohibits intentionally removing or altering copyright management information when you know, or have reasonable grounds to know, that it will induce, enable, facilitate or conceal an infringement. Many other countries have similar rules.
Platform terms
Using a cleaned file does not exempt you from platform terms. Platforms may remove content, suspend accounts or apply labels regardless of a file's metadata. If a platform requires you to disclose that content is AI-generated or AI-edited, removing a metadata field does not remove that obligation.
EU AI Act notice
The transparency obligations in Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the EU AI Act) have applied since 2 August 2026. If your content is AI-generated or manipulated, disclosure obligations may apply to you as the person publishing it. This tool does not remove those obligations.
